Accepting the Blogger Recognition Award #1

The excitement that I am overcome with, when nominated for these blogger awards is unexplainable. It is truly an amazing honor. I want to give a huge “Thank You!” to Laila Laurson with her blog From The Scars for nominating my blog for the “Bloggers Recognition Award.”

What is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication put into their blog. This is an amazing award to be presented with, because from my experience starting a new blog is, “No walk in the park.”

It requires tons of energy, time, patience and a wide variety of skills–some of which you might have to learn. So, receiving this award is a great honor and each blogger who receives it should be proud of what they have accomplished, but should also remember this isn’t the finish line, just a milestone. There is always more growth and knowledge to obtain. Take this award wear it with pride and keep building your blog.

What is From The Scars and who is Laila Laurson?

Great questions! Glad you asked!

She started her blog, From the Scars, because throughout her life she have felt alone. She ultimately wanted to create an environment where she could share her struggles and hopefully find others who could relate to her. She didn’t want to continue to live her life feeling like she didn’t belong. She also wanted to provide a place where people could find comfort and even a friend.

As the weeks went by blogging, she realized this was only one aspect of who she was and wanted to branch out and include the various parts of herself. Which is when she decided her blog’s niche would be a Lifestyle one. She has added stories about herself and her family, self-help articles, daily quotes she loves, and her favorite “Music Monday.” She has so many other parts of herself and she is looking forward to sharing. She loves to draw, write (stories, aside from her blog), cooking, and making crafts, so she is hoping to add a D.I.Y, drawing, and cooking section to her site in the near-future.

My Blog’s Story:

My name is Amy, I live in the Yukon in Northern Canada with my husband, Ben, and 4 kids! We both have a passion for growth and change-seeing the best in people, and doing what we can to help build people up and draw out the goodness!

I’ve always been the type of person to go out of my way to find a solution to a problem if someone comes to me with something. I have a passion for helping people, and now that I’m a mom, I can definitely relate and believe that I can possibly help people with my experience and make them feel like they’re not alone, or at the very least help them through it by listening and loving them. My hope for my blog is to encapsulate hope and love to other moms who are struggling with mom life, or just wading through the chaos-or fighting their way through a fitness journey. My faith in God helps me stay grounded and I know he guides me through so much!

My Advice to New Bloggers:

My three biggest pieces of advice I can share with new bloggers is to research all aspects of your niche, be patient, and go for your goals!

  1. Research: In starting a blog, that is so much to go into it! Finding your niche, designing your page to reflect your creativity, hashtags, apps for media…etc. In my experience, go through Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook and read what other people have done, glean from those who have been willing to share what they’ve done. There are so many experienced and amazing bloggers out there, find what you love and go for it! Join Facebook groups, pinterest boards, follow people in similar niches on Instagram…connect connect connect! 🙂

  2. Be patient: Getting your blog off the ground, once designed and set up is equally if not harder than actually setting it up! Getting blog traffic is tough! Make media images for blog posts, and use Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook blogging groups to get your name out! Again, so many bloggers out there! We’re all passionate about sharing, and also checking out what other bloggers are doing! 🙂

  3. Go for your goals! Don’t be discouraged when you don’t see the traffic and responses you want. It’s like a plateau in weight loss-push through it even if you’re not seeing the results you are hoping for. Even if you only have a few people reading your blog, you have no idea how you are impacting others!
